Flaming Brush 2 and More

Finally, almost 2 months after the last post, a month after left my job. Got myself busy over a few projects ever since.

Flaming Brush 2
The Farstriders
Another event from Battle Bros, this time with Shadespire being the theme of the second event. Got the Farstriders above completed after about 2 weeks after I left. The initial varnishing had some issues, surprisingly, by frosting the models over after the initial application. The bright colours above was a result of washing the models with water, right before taking the photo. Apparently a layer of Lahmian Medium after washing with water helped "fixed" it, after a few test.

Steelheart's Champions
Steelheart's Champions were partially completed some time ago. I took this opportunity to get them completed at the same time with the same scheme as the Farstriders. As seen above, are the frosting damage from Munitorium Varnish. Seems that immediately using without letting the can temperature balanced with the environment temperature caused the frosting, despite having it shaken for 5-10 minutes.

Space Marine Adventures
Space Marine Adventures
Got myself a box of Space Marine Adventures straight from Barnes and Noble since it is not available here locally. 5 models that are part of the Japanese edition of Space Marine Heroes, 4 of them not available in the English version. Got these models painted right after the Flaming Brush models were completed. Initially planned to paint them as Dark Angels but last minute decided otherwise. The Ultramarine Sergeant's helm should probably be in red instead of blue. Probably to be corrected later.

Blackstone Fortress
Obsidius Mallex and the Black Legion

Chaos Beastmen

Rogue Psykers
Blackstone Fortress was a gift to myself over the last Christmas (although someone was suppose to be crossing that off my wish list for me). These models were completed first as they were the closest to the black colour scheme. Despite that, it took a while for the final scheme to be decided as I attempt to replicate Heavy Metal's scheme. Rogue Psykers could probably improve a little more on the skin colour. May just to additional rework on that once all are done.

Coming up next would be Ur-ghuls, Spindle Drone and the Negavolt Cultist which I basecoat white for the very first time. The Ur-ghuls and Spindle Drone are actually completed and the photos should be up soon. Currently they I am waiting for them to dry from the initial application of Lahmian Medium which I am testing out prior to varnishing later with Munitorium Varnish later this weekend.

*updated*
Added the two photos below. This ones had their lighting edited to improve the display. Still need to work more with my photography via the camera phone.

Misc: April Ending

Almost 2 months after the last post, time for some journal update on the progress so far.

Sadly, nothing much happened during the last two months.

- Completed 3 librarians (Turmiel from Dark Vengeance with a slightly different scheme from the Codex since I totally forgot about that plan, Librarian in termie armour from previous Death Angels Project that I stripped and repainted, termie in Primaris armour which I got from Kill Team Commander Astartes kit). Will take photos of these later.

- Flaming Brush Competition. No prizes but managed to complete it since this one was joining in support of the event. Submitted a Primaris Chaplain with a little extra sculpted to make this a little more in theme with the event.

- Took a photography class to take photos of my minis. Got the opportunity to take a shot of the entire 5th Company currently in collection.

- 1 custom model currently in progress. My avatar for Battle Brothers since I am now a regular there.

Model made from several kits clobbered together including Primaris Reaver, Primaris Intercessor, Deathwatch Kill Team kit and of course, Dark Angels upgrade kit

- Joined Battle Brothers Blood Bowl League (QBL) with my Steeled Stoners. Getting a hang of the rules and now need to write up a quick reference guide for all the steps and tables needed for each game

- Joined 3 month campaign with my Dark Angels. So far into week 7 right now with an average of 2 games per week, enough to get the necessary weekly campaign stamps for the bonus goodies.

- 1 month break for the entire April from building and painting. 2 sets of Warhammer Conquest issues arrived at the beginning of April (8 issues altogether). Just started to assemble them last night.

- Shadowspear came out. No cash for that sadly. Got myself the captain though.

- Sent in my resignation from my current company. Applied for store manager job which I did not get. Now trying my luck again for Account Manager. If nothing pans out, time to start searching in May.

Blood Bowl: Steeled Stoners

Got myself into a league for Blood Bowl in my nearest store recently. Got myself a copy of the main game and some added manuals for my human team, The Steeled Stoners. The character names are based on rock artist such as Axel Rose and Lemmy Kilmister.

Steeled Stoners, first team

Some further details added on the bases
I got myself a second set of human models to further customize my team to look more like their real life counterpart themselves, where I can.

Until now, I just converted 2 heads from my Stormclaw box set for Axel Rose and Lemmy's head. I will be adding Lemmy's signature hat as an additional sculpt later.
