Warhammer 40K: Happy New Year + 5th Company Updates!

Happy New Year to all!!!

I hope everyone have a good start to the new year. As per previous post, I ended the year painting up my loot (over 40+ models) with the intention of getting everything single one done. Sadly, things do not go as planned especially when you have to attend critical work situation even when you are on leave.

*The  chronological work order may be incorrect since I still have not recovered from the late nights. But it should basically indicate the speed of the work done, which was super slow.

Day 0 (Sunday 28th)
- Began priming all the models I have including the Rhino/Razorbacks. I decided to prime them earlier to give me more hours painting them, reducing the need to wait for the primer to dry.

Day 1 (Monday 29th)
- Started late as I got calls to handle some situation in one of my company projects after dropping the kids off at the babysitter. Basically took the mood out of me. Started on a Christmas project for a good buddy of mine which I will cover after he received his present. Took a break to have dinner with my parents since they are down here. Began painting the Rhino/Razorbacks (I am  gonna start calling them Razorbacks since my displays will basically be them, although I did paint the Rhino doors too). Began working on the interior and adding some little details to make it look cool. Once done, assembled them and began putting the Tactical/Devastator marines on based for painting.
- Ended around 3 am

Day 2 (Tuesday 30th)
- Drop kids. Got a call from client. Started around 11am. Basecoated and washed all the modes including the Razorbacks. Worked on the Razorbacks until lunch. Worked on Tactical/Devastator marines since they have less work needed to get them standing on the stand. Veterans are left later as I ran out of stands and also they have plenty of cloak. Assault is a pain to do to pin them at the moment. Will be doing them all once the Tacticals and Devastators are done. Hit a major snag with the drybrushing as I changed to a different type of brush this time around. Entire models became bright green which is a vast contrast to my previous models. The Waywatcher Green glaze also ruined some models with the excessive white residue in the recesses. Too much water? Fixed it with a thin layer of very watered down(2:1) Caliban Green.
- Ended around 1 am

Day 3 (Wednesday 31st)
- Woke up late circa 10 am. Got really demotivated looking at the models since I am way behind schedule. Definitely did not make the cut if I were iron painting. Began working on bascoating the metal and reds and washed them all with Nuln Oil. Also started on the aquila with Ushabti Bone. Washed with Nuln Oil and hated the result. Went back to repainting most of them and washed with Agrax Earthshade. Took a break with a New Year's eve dinner with the parents and family.
- Ended around 3 am

Day 4 (Thursday 1st January 2015)
- Woke up late again. Just in time to head out for lunch with the parents before they head back north. Came back and got my setup for painting ready. Brighten the reds with watered down Evil Sunz Scarlet. Painted company insignia on all the model's left leg as previously. Highlighted the glow for plasma weapons. Began sorting all the models according to the squad designation for a photo session after dinner.

Conclusion, objectives failed as I have not even got the time to touch on my Space Hulk models even. The closest I got was to apply the drybrush layer which ruined some of the earlier work as seen under the painting pages. The bristles on the new brush used was longer then Citadel's drybrushes. Looks like back to the drawing board. Also, I will need to skip a lot of detailing steps on the models if I were to be painting them for any iron painter event as this will definitely take up too much time. I will probably stick to Necrons if I were to ever take part.

5th Company as of 20150101
5th Company 1st Tactical Squad minus Sergeant

5th Company 2nd Tactical Squad minus Sergeant
5th Company 1st Devastator Squad
5th Company 1st Assault Squad. Based units were done previously

5th Company Special/Heavies from 3rd and 4th Squad with some previously done veterans

The interior
Once the models are completed, I should be able to update my work complete list which should push me to close 30% of the whole 5th Company.

Anyway, for 2015, I look forward to complete either 1st or 5th Company before I work on any other Companies.
