Warhammer 40K: Trazyn the Infinite and Illuminator Szeras

Finally completed the two new necron addition to my collection. Trazyn the Infinite and Illuminator Szeras.

Trazyn the Infinite

I had this unit since my buddy gave this to me during Chinese New Year and never got to finished it beyond the basecoating and initial washing as I was focusing on getting my Deathwing Termies up and running for a 750 tournament. As seen above, I still screw up with the glow effect on the warscythe in an attempt to make it to look like this.

I will probably strip up the paint on the scythe and reattempt it again later. surprisingly, I got the back correct without even referring to Games-Workshop's website.

You can see a 3D version of this unit here.

Since the have updated their website, you can check out Trazyn here

Illuminator Szeras

This unit was a tough one to get it painted since the mini only stands on one leg touching the table for some reason. Anyway, this gives me some basing creativity with the pebbles to give it a flat touching illusion. As you can see, I am missing out on the back a lot since as, like Trazyn above, I was working without a reference image for the back. I just saw the photo from Games-Workshop's site and will probably work on them after finishing my Crisis suits.

The Necron Five

All that is missing now from my Necron collection is Imotekh, Vagard Obyron and Nemesor Zahndrekh.

Gundam: UMF-4A GOOhN Part 2

Finally completed the unit last night.

Overall, I am happy with the result although the panel lines could have been a much better job.

Earlier, I attempted to wash the entire unit with Nuln Oil. Probably ended up overwashing the whole unit which resulted in a repair work over the well done basecoat.

Lesson the be learned, full model washing is great for miniatures, or items with a lot of details and edges. Not so much with plenty of smooth surfaces.

Final result from the front.
The wash brings out the details of the arm very well due to the deep grooves

Close up of the model. Some of the initial paint smoothness was lost after the repaint. The wash did not sit well in the grooves in this area.
Same goes for the back. Black portion of the vent is painted.

Now looking forward to a construct a new mech which a friend got for my "birthday" XD

While that is in the future work, I will be finishing up on some Necron HQ units which I had some time.

Trazyn the Infinite - Had this for Christmas last year and is a pending job since then.

Illuminor Szeras -  Just picked this up when it popped up in the early March restock at Wira Games. Since no one else picked it up, it is then mine!

And yeah. The test warrior which I ebayed some time ago. Almost a pain to fix and pose. Too bad as this will be my army of choice for the next Iron Painter. They will most likely follow this scheme and a little more detail on the chest insignia. Finished him a long time ago and never got to take a photo of it.

Gundam: UMF-4A GOOhN Part 1

This is a side project which I started as I am planning to get myself a large model to include in my army (specifically, all 3 land raider variants).

This GOOhN model was the final piece of my Gundam SEED basic grade collection. Basic grade are models with almost zero articulation and barely pose-able. These set were my first gundam models I collected before slowly moving on to High Grade kits (Seed, Seed Destiny and Double 0).

Although I had plenty of these models (almost at least every HG single kit from the three series above), I never did bother painting them as I expected that I will be needing an air brush to be able to work on them well.

The GOOhN is a mass produced amphibious model used by ZAFT in Gundam SEED. According to a buddy of mine, the GOOhN model was so unpopular that the models were supposedly given away/tossed away by the shopkeepers in Japan. But then again, he tends to over exaggerate things a lot.

The model was primed in my usual Bosny's Blackboard Black before basecoating them with the colours above.
The basecoats used were Ushbati Bone, Mournfang Brown and a Caliban Green/Steel Legion Drab mix.

My concern was that there will be clouding or brush streaks which would appear on the model after painting. Surprisingly, these turned out well. I used a large flatbrush (something of Citadel's large drybrush) to work on the model. It took me about 3-4 layers to get a good finish as shown above.

Hopefully the next few days will see me finishing them well.

Warhammer 40K: DeathWing Company Checkpoint!

Just a short checkpoint on what's done so far since I started to collect the Deathwing company.

Estimated 30% complete on the troops alone. Big units such as additional dreadnought and land raiders will be added at a much later date, depending on my available budget. Who knows, Ravenwings may be next on the list to collect!

Anyway, a breakdown of the units so far are as follow:
Standard Squad 1 - 5 termies. 1 chain fist, 1 assault cannon (DV)
Standard Squad 2 - 5 termies. 1 chain fist, 1 assault cannon (DV)
Standard Squad 3 - 5 termies. 2 lightning claws, 1 assault cannon
Standard Squad 4 - 5 termies. 2 lightning claws, 1 assault cannon
Knight Squad 1 - 5 Deathwing Knights
Command Squad 1 - 5 termies. 1 champion, 1 apothecary, 1 chainfist, 1 cyclone missile
Loose Squad - 3 termies. 1 champion, 1 plasma cannon, 1 chainfist
HQ - Belial
Heavies - 1 Venerable Dreadnought
Ravenwing- 3 bikers (DV)
5th Company - 10 man tactical squad. 1 plasma cannon. 1 plasma pistol (DV)

I will be breaking up the command squad and reassemble the team at the end of everything as I found that they do not actually count as part of the 100 man company. More termies for me then.

Not in the photo.
HQ - 5th Company Master Balthezar (DV), Librarian Turmiel (DV), Chaplain Seraphicus (DV), Chaplain Interrogator Asmodai
5th Company - 1 meltagun

Warhammer 40K: 750 Point Squad

Finally completed another squad for a total of approximately 30 man army for my DeathWing company.

The recent units done were primarily focusing at completing a possible 750 point army which I intend to use in a session soon.

Squad 1

3 units from squad one were completed in the previous session based on another load out. I have since then change to the formation you see above. 2 lightning claws and 1 assault gunner

Squad 2

Squad 2 uses a similar load out as squad 1. I made some adjustments on the units pose, especially the sergeant to create a variation in my army. The limitation of the DeathWing box is that the hand on the sword cannot be posed any other way except as seen in squad 1. Cutting the hand off the sword will be a very tricky job to realign everything. We will see how in the future.

Also, I have decided to add in a tactical squad to the 750 point mix. Below is a tactical marine with melta gun which I intend to use. The rest of his unit will be the minis I painted from the Dark Vengeance set.

Hopefully these boys will hit the table soon.
