Warhammer 40K: Farsight Enclave Prototype

While I am currently working on collecting my Deathwing Army, I could not help attempting to work on Tau Empire as they are the fourth army I would like to paint. While being the fourth, they will probably be the second army for me to work on once I have my Deathwing Company.

Showcasing here is a prototype unit for Farsight Enclave. I will be starting them with the Farsight Eight first before assembling the actual army itself.

The unit below was meant to be a test subject on the scheme I will be using for Farsight. Turns out well and matching the scheme of Commander Brightstar (minus the weapons). I will probably assemble another Brightstar since this unit here was clearly meant to be a test paint for me.

While my methods here was based on GW's How to Paint Tau Empire manual, I will re-list method used for easy reference, since I did deviate from the guide.
- Basecoat Khorne Red
- Wash with Nuln Oil
- Drybrush edges with Khorne Red
- Drybrush edges with Wazdakka Red
- Drybrush edges with Evil Sunz Scarlet
- Drybrush edges with Wyld Rider Red
- Layer edges with Wyld Rider Red

Why the two layer of Wyld Rider Red? Just so happens that the initial idea was to use drybrushing primarily for the edge highlights, something I did primarily with the Deathwing. However, I did a double take and tried layering the edge instead, which resulted in what you see above.

The red edge on the drones are done by a watered down Wyld Rider Red (2:1).

Grey parts were done as folow:
- Eshin Grey Basecoat
- Dawnstone Layer
- Pallid Wynch Flesh drybrush (for drones) or layer (for the crisis battlesuit)

2 more suits available for me to work on later. Hence 2 out of 8 teams should be completed soon.
