Robotech Tactics: Prelude Part 3 - The Weekend Job

Another quick update on some of the works done over the weekend.

Zentradi Heavy Artillery Pod
Same as Light Artillery Pod except heavier missiles.
Tomahawk/Excalibur
Spartan/Gladiator
Phalanx/Spartan
Defender/Radiar X
Phalanx with Experimental Missiles
Size Comparison between RDF and Zentradi Mecha. Did not expect the destroids to be shorter than the pods
Destroids
Overall, the destroids are not that fiddly as compared to the Veritechs. They are quite straight forward to build except for the leg assembly, which can be vastly improved by possibly removing the stubs in the torso. The stubs are there to guide the leg fitting, but the sizing itself makes it near impossible to get your leg to stay in properly. It took alot of patience to wait for the cement to set the legs in position.
Recommended order: chasis->legs->arms->bits

Primary fleet completed over the weekend. VFs from the left are 1Js, 1Rs and 2 rows of 1As
Finally decided on my Veritech roster after some calculation. With my 11 (9 + 2 from my earlier order) I am working on the following:
2 VF-1J - Max and Miriya's colour
6 VF-1A - Max, Miriya, Rick and Ben's colour is a must. I have 1 which will have the mass production brown and possibly the last one in Dark Angel colours
2 VF-1R - Still undecided on the colour to use
1 VF-1S - Undecided to either attempt Rick Hunter's colour or Deathwing. I might go with Deathwing since Rick's VF-1S is in fact Skull 1 after Roy died.

Oh yeah, it is going to be a while before I can post up the sprue list for the destroids. Forgot to take shots of them before starting the assembly since each sprue can build 2 destroids of the same kind each.

Robotech Tactics: Prelude Part 2

More egg walkers.

Zentradi Light Artillery Pod
Very straight forward assembly like the Recon Pod. In fact, I would say much easier as there are no small bits to attach.

Zentradi Particle Beam Pod
Since I only have 4 sprues for artillery pods, (2 for light and 2 for heavy), I decided to try installing the particle beam on the tactical pods. And as you can see above, they are actually interchangeable since the chassis for both the artillery pots and tactical pods are the same.

Zentradi Tactical Battlepod
This pod was a little messed up since I choose not to refer to the new guide, which resulted in the model assembled in a very odd unbalanced posed. The legs that I used here was intended to be assembled with the stand as shown above. It took some effort before I could repose it. The right leg was fully fuses and I could not modify it, hence touching the stand.

Recommended order: chassis->legs->other bits

Robotech Tactics: Prelude

Finally! Wave 1 sets have arrived!

Got my hands unboxing them yesterday and assemble some test units, just to get the feel assembling them.

Zentradi Quel-Gulnau Recovery Pod
The Recovery Pod is quite straight forward to build and assemble. 1 kit in the sprue itself with no extra parts.
Recommended order: chassis->rear antenna->stand-> arms->antennas

Zentradi Reconnaissance Battlepod
The antenna on the radar sensor was a pain to assemble. Made a mistake of assembling the sensor first on the model before the antenna. The other pain to assemble was the twin antennas in the front. For some reason, it just does not go in the groove well even during test fitting. This unit comes together with the Officer Battlepod.
Recommended order: chasis->legs->complete antenna assembly->mini bits

Zentradi Glaug Officer Battlepod
Everything was a simple fit until you reach the arms. Poorly designed fits in which you will need to put some support under the arm cannons for it to stay in place while the cement dries.
Recommended order: chassis->legs->cannon and bits->arms

I should be working on my first artillery battlepods and regular battlepods soon. The sprue list should also be added by the next post.

Also to add, Palladium Books finally release a detailed guide on assembling these units at DriveThruRpg

Warhammer 40K: 5th Company Command Squads Specials

After a long period missing due to the kids, I finally took a day off from work to catch up on some of my minis. Any longer and I will probably have to learn how to paint from scratch all over again. Not only was my work a little rusty, my new pot of Dawnstone was found to be a plastic gel in the bottle. Attempts to resurrect it with some Tamiya thinner resulted in a paint goo. Time to get a new one.

This time, I managed to get some of my key units for the command squad completed, since I already have a company champion.

Company Standard Bearer
Closer view of the banner itself
While noted the company standard is easy, it is my first completed banner, despite having the Deathwing Company Banner on hold since I started it. The four sections were quite easy to paint. I used the decal for the DA symbol in the center as I was afraid that I would ruin it, should I attempted to free hand it.

Company Apothecary
1st Apothecary, Company Master Command Squad
Same Apothecary, side view
2nd Apothecary, Librarian Command Squad
Managed to also completed the two Apothecaries, although one is missing the base as I am short of it. Time to get more from the web

9th Devastator Squad Sergeant
5th Company 9th Devastator Squad (220 points)
Another sergeant completed to complete the squad list. In fact, I have decided to reassign some of my existing veterans to company sergeants for the first and second tactical squad

5th Company 1st Tactical Squad (190 points)
- Veteran Sergeant with power fist and bolt pistol
- Plasma gun
- Heavy bolter

5th Company 2nd Tactical Squad (180 points)
- Veteran Sergeant with lightning claws
- Plasma gun
- Multi-melta

With the new Dark Angel Codex coming around the corner, I hope that I will not need to alter much of my company layout.

Also, a side project while working on the above
Forgot to take this pic earlier.

* Forgot to add that finally I received the notice for my Robotech Tactics Wave 1 has been shipped! I will probably be spending more time assembling the models then since assembly work has less time and attention cost compared to painting. I will post them up as I go along with the assembly.

My paint roster currently should be as follow:
- Dark Angels Chaplain, Razorbacks and Darkshroud
- Space Hulk
- Robotech Tactics
- Descent 2 minis
- Finish up Deathwing
